With a distinguished history in banking, Zafer Kurtul came to Sabanci Holdings in the summer of 2010, and in the short time since has managed to install an international standard of management based on an MBA from Wisconsin-Madison. Before joining Akbank in 1998 as an assistant general manager, Kurtul had managerial positions at Citibank and Société Générale, among others, which would have made him a suitable candidate for many positions. A charismatic and determined leader, Kurtul’s entrepreneurship and ability to involve employees in many aspects of decision-making have contributed to Sabanci’s recent success.
