BEST CEO in the microloans industry

Stephen Amoah

Microfinance and Small Loans Centre

Through his commitment to microfinance, Stephen Amoah, CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), has empowered small businesses in Ghana. Speaking about his career, Amoah told European CEO that he wants to “achieve competitive excellence by using cutting-edge technologies to provide microloans to SMEs and start-ups”.

Crucially, the company serves even the most remote parts of the country. Ghana has long had issues with financial inclusion, and many of its citizens have historically been excluded from traditional banking. Leaders like Amoah are changing that with the development of new services that are designed to be accessible to all.

Amoah boasts an impressive array of qualifications, having been a part-time lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he is a PhD candidate in applied mathematics. He also holds a master’s degree in strategic finance from the University of Derby. In terms of his corporate experience, Amoah has served as CEO of oil and gas firm Zintex and CFO of media company Kencity. His experience lies in financial management and investment consultancy.

Amoah has led MASLOC to new heights since he took over as CEO in 2017: he has made it his mission to turn the company into a prestigious financial institution. Speaking about the organisation’s future developments, he said: “Very soon MASLOC will operate like a bank with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises. We are also working to issue biometric cards to all our clients for efficient monitoring.”

For his work, Amoah has received a number of accolades, including Microfinance and Small Loans CEO of the Year at the Ghana Entrepreneur and Corporate Executive Awards. The event recognises the contributions of business leaders across Ghana to the country’s future prosperity and socioeconomic growth.

MASLOC’s core values are professionalism, integrity, team spirit, excellence and respect. Under Amoah’s leadership, the company is staying true to these standards.
