MCH Group creates first-class marketing platforms in the form of internationally and nationally leading exhibitions and offers bespoke solutions for successful participation in these exhibitions. In addition, MCH Group provides a range of services for large numbers of corporate and public events all over the globe.
MCH Group is active in all the different segments of the event market – exhibition events, corporate events, public events. It is furnishing the expertise required at all the individual process stages.
MCH Exhibitions: MCH Group’s exhibition portfolio takes in some 40 exhibitions organised and run by the MCH Group’s exhibition companies. These include BASELWORLD – the world watch and jewellery show – plus the internationally leading art shows of Art Basel and Art Basel Miami Beach. In addition to the watch/jewellery and art/design sectors, the MCH Group also designs and implements marketing and communication platforms for additional sectors, including architecture and construction, the hotel and catering industries, initial and further training, logistics and packaging, gardens and lifestyle, technology, automation and chemistry.
MCH Infrastructure: MCH Group’s infrastructure comprises Messe Basel (gross exhibition area 162,000 m2), the Congress Center Basel and the Musical Theater Basel, as well as Messe Zürich (gross exhibition area 30,000 m2) and the Theater 11 in Zurich. The MCH Group is also responsible for running Beaulieu Lausanne (gross exhibition area 50,500 m2), which similarly takes in a congress centre and a theatre. As a partner in the Miami Beach Convention Center (gross exhibition area 46,500 m2), the MCH Group is additionally responsible for marketing this centre in Europe. Messe Basel, Messe Zürich and Beaulieu Lausanne constitute the main venues for the group’s own exhibitions. The exhibition infrastructure is also rented out to other exhibition organisers.
MCH Event Services: The Event Services companies in the MCH Group provide comprehensive, top-quality services in the fields of event management (Rufener events Ltd.), stand construction and fittings (Expomobilia AG) and also technical systems for organised events (Winkler Veranstaltungstechnik AG) throughout the national and international event market. The MCH Group thus not only offers individual solutions for those wishing to participate in exhibitions – irrespective of the organiser or venue – but also provides customised services for other corporate and public events.
With investments summoning up to 430 million CHF, the exhibition ground in Basel is about to experience a striking modernisation by 2013. The most important part of the project, developed by the famous architects Herzog & de Meuron of Basel, are the extension of Hall One to the Exhibition Square, the renewal of Hall Three situated near the multi-storey car park and the interconnection of both new hall complexes by a two-storey superstructure covering the Exhibition Square.
MCH Group has around 600 employees on permanent contracts. In 2008 and 2009, the group recorded sales of CHF 308 million on average, with a group profit that averaged CHF 23 million. The MCH Group Ltd. is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange (Domestic Standard).
The MCH Group has its roots in the “Schweizer Mustermesse in Basel” which was established in 1916 and later gave rise to the “Messe Basel” which, in 2001, merged with the “Messe Zürich”, founded in 1945. In 2005, the company made a start on selectively building up its MCH Event Services business field, with the integration of Winkler Veranstaltungstechnik AG, Expomobilia AG(2007) and Rufener events Ltd. (2009). In 2010, MCH Group took over the exhibition organising company Exhibit & More AG, as well as Beaulieu Exploitation SA.
